Mobile version of Yota Scene!

Postby Baha on Tue Jun 01, 2010 2:09 am

Hey guys I'm excited to announce that............. a mobile version of Yota Scene is underway! We will be wrapping up the new help section early this week and as promised start on the mobile version of this site as well as contests.

Now I know some of you with blackberrys, and maybe other phones are probably saying "but I can already view mbs on my phone". That is correct but I'm sure it is far from user friendly. I would like to see us begin to offer apps for those of you with Droid, iphones, or even windows mobile but a mobile version of the site is the first step, and the most cross platform compatible.

I need a little help from those of you that will use this version.

-We need testers. Please let me know if you would be interested in helping me test the mobile version. The more the better!
-Browser your phone uses
-Screen Resolution
-Lastly other mobile sites you like to use on your phone

As with most mobile versions of sites the features will be limited. Here are the features currently going into the Beta Version.

-Forums new threads, and posting
-Private messages new messages and replies
-Chatroom

Comments and questions welcome!

Do you have a picture of how it looks? I've seen it on other phones and everything was scaled down so much it was hard to use. I should have something to preview very soon!

I've used this site on my Storm 2 and it sucks, can't see shit unless you really zoom in, and even then it's too difficult to use. An app would be dope for sure.

Hey guys looking for your help. Before I finish the style and add all the back end code I made sort of a rough draft for you guys to test on your phone. I want you to see how you like it and to let me know if you have any suggestions. After all this is for all of you! It is lacking the final styling that will make it appear as a mobile app but what I'm mainly focusing on is user friendliness. I tested it on my android powered phone and it seems really easy to use so far.

In your mobile phone go to the address

For those of you who don't have a smart phone but would like to check it out anyway I set up a preview with a virtual phone so to speak.

lol yeah it's not supposed to let you login yet. It's just so you can get a feel for how it will be used. Thanks for the feedback!

If you make it, can you make it for blackberrys and iphone? or is it going to be a website? it would be sick to get an icon on the phone saying we have a new post or reply to our thread.

Well the first version is going to be a mobile version so as long as your phone can get on the internet you're good to go! I'm planning on making apps but I need to look into it more to see what's most popular. I would love to have an app for all major phones!

This new infrastructure I built allows us to develop for all sites at once. In the future you will be able to customize your scene but combining forums you are interested into your main home page from all sites :D
